Ballad of the Flood

A play about the Williamsburg Dam disaster of 1874. This short play chronicles the fateful day in the life of Viola Coyler, the first child to die in the first major disaster of early Industrial New England. Through her eyes we experience old Williamsburg, and learn that the dam for the giant Mills along the river was built badly by the Mill owners, and everyone in the town knew it. This play is 30 mins long and includes a cranky, an old style paper movie scroll that shows historical images of the flood, accompanied by the song "Ballad of the Flood" by Jonathan Stevens.
